This year is quickly coming to an end and 2019 will be here before we know it! The Cypress Creek Project is ending the year the best way possible, as we recently found out we have received federal funds for years 4 through 6 of project implementation. This new contract includes continued watershed coordination, outreach programs, more best management practices (BMPs) and a long-term sustainability plan. If you would like to learn more, the proposal is located here on the Cypress Creek Project website, under “Implementation Documents”. Once approved, we will also be uploading the grant scope of work – stay tuned!
Current efforts from the Cypress Creek Project team to keep Cypress Clean, Clear and flowing includes the opportunity to demonstrate the value of a One Water approach with the design and construction of a new primary school for the Wimberley Valley. This water smart school will serve as a model for the Valley and other communities throughout the Texas Hill Country. To learn more about these efforts, read our plan located here on the Cypress Creek Project website, under “Other Project Documents”. Updates will be provided as progress on this project moves along.
All BMP projects for the year have been installed, totaling our BMP count to 6 including rainwater harvesting systems at Blue Hole, Hays County Precinct 3 office, Wimberley Valley Watershed Association and Woodcreek Golf Course, as well as two permeable paver projects at Blue Hole. Future BMPs will include rain gardens and permeable pavers throughout the Wimberley Valley, stay tuned!
